After the game...

After the day is done and the princess is saved- sure Mario gets to go and celebrate with the grateful royal but Luigi gets to go back home with barely a thank you.

I've always loved Luigi. Maybe because I was always second player when I was younger.

So this is what Luigi comes home to. His bare bedroom, some nostalgic things on the wall like a newspaper clipping from when Mario was kidnapped by Bowser, a ribbon from the 3rd grade science fair, a nice photo of him, Mario, and Peach at the Beach from last summer and the old note the Princess had sent to him when Bowser first kidnapped her- tenderly tacked to the wall.

On the desk lays one of Princess Peach's old earings she had lost while they were fleeing Bowser's castle. She had cried so much when she noticed she had lost it. Luigi had spent the entire next day searching for it. "Oh, thank you but, I've got new ones. You can keep that one." she had said.

So, he takes off his belt, ignoring the baby chain chop (lovingly named 'Cue' ) nipping at the clasp and settles in for another long night.
